Rio Acari, Amazonas
The Acari is a remote tributary of the Canuma River, which drains into the Madeira River in southern Amazonas. Its channels, lakes, and lagoons support giant peacock bass, arapaima, arowana, apapa, matrinxa, tambaqui, bicuda, payara, jatuarana, redtail catfish, piraiba, cachara, caparari, and jundia. The naturally acidic water also limits mosquito activity during the high fishing season.
The Fish Behind the Name
Pinima Lodge takes its name from Cichla pinima, the peacock bass that defines this fishery and will be the primary target across the Acari River. Formally described as a distinct species in 2006, this predatory Amazon cichlid is recognized by its yellow and olive coloration, broken dark vertical markings, pale speckling, and distinctive eye shaped spots.
Scientific distribution work records Cichla pinima in the middle and lower Madeira basin. The Acari reaches this river network through the Canuma River. This fish eating predator is built for sudden acceleration and violent strikes. Casting along structure, lagoons, and river edges becomes the defining pursuit at Pinima.
Your Riverside Base
Pinima accommodates up to 18 guests in comfortable double rooms with air conditioning, a minibar, private bathroom, hot water, and quality linens. Its private airstrip provides direct access to this remote corner of the Amazon.
The lodge operates in harmony with its surroundings through a working vegetable garden, effective sewage and waste treatment, a certified well with high quality water, and guided ecological tours.
After fishing, guests can relax in the air conditioned restaurant and social areas, swimming pool with hydromassage, kiosk, or Amazon deck. Satellite television, internet, housekeeping, and laundry service are also included.

From Manaus to the Acari
The all inclusive journey includes a round trip charter flight between Manaus and the lodge. It also includes two nights of double occupancy accommodation in Manaus and scheduled ground transportation between the airport, hotel, and charter departure point.
